Freshman Sendoff- Freshman Sendoff is a program that provides dorm and school supplies to students who are the first in their families to attend college. Since 2017, we have provided assistance to over 100 students. We understand that starting college can be an overwhelming experience, especially if you don't have the resources you need to succeed. That's why we provide a range of essential supplies, from bedding and towels to school supplies like notebooks and pens. We believe that everyone deserves the chance to succeed in college, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
Dignity Boutique- The United States sends 21 billion pounds of clothing to landfills annually. We decrease textile waste by collecting clothing to and accessories to individuals who are experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, or returning to work. Our goal is to provide individuals with clothing that not only meets their basic needs but also helps them feel confident and dignified. We believe that every person deserves to feel valued and respected, regardless of their circumstances. Our boutique offers a wide variety of clothing options, so that individuals can find clothing that meets their unique needs. We also provide career development workshops with resume preparation and interview coaching as well.
Coats for the Culture- Throughout the fall and winter months, we collect and distribute toiletries and coats to people in need. We believe that everyone deserves to be warm and comfortable during the cold winter months. Our program offers a range of sizes and styles, from parkas to puffer jackets, to ensure that individuals can find a coat that meets their needs.
At our organization, we strongly believe that collaboration is key to achieving meaningful impact in our community. Through our strategic partnerships with hyper-local not-for-profit organizations that share our mission, we have been able to bring about creative solutions and a strengthened advocacy voice to address issues that have greatly impacted our city.
One example of the successful collaboration that we've achieved through our partnerships is our work in supporting seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic in Washington, DC. We were able to mobilize resources and support to ensure that seniors in our community had access to the essentials they needed to stay safe and healthy during this difficult time.
By working with organizations such as MurderFreeDC, The PurpleStars Foundation, Saving Our Youth, FixPat, Ward 5 Mutual Aid, Check It Enterprises, Dont Mute My Health, and Studio Muze, has also allowed us to advocate for issues that are important to our community, such as violence prevention, joblessness, and equitable access to healthcare. By working together, we've been able to amplify our advocacy efforts and make a greater impact on these issues.
We're proud to collaborate with these incredible organizations, each of which brings their unique perspective, skills, and expertise to our work. We believe that by working together, we can create a stronger, more resilient community that supports the needs of all its members.
